Eating out in Fernando de Noronha
There are plenty of places around Vila dos Remedios and other areas of the island to eat and hang out. A number of them offer live music on specific nights so you might want to inquire if you want to enjoy some Brazilian music.
I went to the following places on the four nights I spent on the island.
Casa Salviano
This small sushi restaurant is located in Vila do Porto. It was recommended to me by the manager of my Pousada.
Ask for Duda, the very friendly, English speaking owner of the place. He used to be a professional surfer in Hawaii before moving to Noronha some years back and opening this place. By now he has two sushi restaurants on the island.
Catch of the day served
According to him, all fish served is the catch of the day apart from salmon that gets flown in from Chile as was the glass of excellent chilled Chardonnay that I had with my sushi. My dinner cost me some 20 Euros.
Bar do Meio
As the name of the place already suggests, it is located near Praia do Meio. It is again a place that comes to life at around sunset. I loved the fried barracuda for 25 Euros.
Bar Duda Rei
This bar/restaurant is hidden among the vegetation on Praia da Conceicao. Look out for some few umbrellas and chairs on the beach in order not to walk passed it. I had a very good ceviche (with plenty of bread) for some 20 Euros including my drink. In the afternoon, life music commences accompanying the sunset and continuing until late in the evening.
Caciooba
This more upscale restaurant (at least price wise) is popular in Vila dos Remedios. I had to wait a while to get my food which was not what I had ordered. Eventually I did get my dish which tasted alright. I found the price of 50 Euros for one dish and one caipirinha disproportioned.
Opico
This is a divers meeting point close to Praia do Sancho. It is a mixture between bistro and restaurant, has some original artesian, an arts gallery and life music.
More places
Other recommended places, however not visited my me (I only had four nights), are Corveta in Vila dos Remedios and the restaurant of the Pousada do Vale where you can enjoy fish cooked in banana leaves.
Ze Maria
I did have a rather negative experience with Ze Maria. The owner was the first to open a Pousada on the island years ago.
Organised dinner every Wednesday
He now organises a dinner every Wednesday during which he cooks traditional dishes for his guests and elaborates on the history of the island. Dinner costs around 70 Euros without drinks. I decided to give it a try.
Worst table for me as I was there on my own
Unfortunately, they assigned me a tiny table at the entrance door of the kitchen which I refused to accept also because there was plenty of space on the terrace. After some back and forth, I was told that since I was a single female eating out on her own this is the table I would get.
Left before dinner
I was pretty upset of this treatment and left so I cannot give any judgement on the food served.
I have done several posts on Fernando de Noronha. They include my tips and info on Noronha, things to do, eating out, scuba diving and a general post on Fernando de Noronha
Enjoy the read!
