Beaches of the Turks and Caicos Islands

My experience of the beaches in the Turks and Caicos

My visit to TCI was limited to the most populated of the islands i.e. Providenciales (or Provo for locals). I knew that the beaches of the Turks and Caicos are at their best here. Hence, this contribution is mainly about Provo.

Caicias Villas

I stayed at beautiful Caicias Villas on Long Bay Beach. This complex of five luxury villas lies directly on the beach. It has a pool, a gym, patting green and is in the perfect spot for some great kiteboarding. Not to forget the chilling on the beach and soaking in crystalline water.

Spectacular beaches of the Turks and Caicos – Providenciales – they are among the best in the world

One main attraction of this part of the world are the outstanding beaches. To be enjoyed in an exclusive and secluded atmosphere, getting blown away by the pristine water. She other attractions are kiteboarding, deep sea fishing, jet sky, snorkelling, scuba diving and so on. In other words any sport done in, on or under water.

Chalk Sound National Park

As I was mobile with a car, my first destination was to drive to the Chalk Sound National Park located in the southwest of Provo. The scenic natural lagoon consists of hundreds of small islands. Together with the shallow and amazing turquoise water, Chalk Sound National Park should definitely be on your list of beaches to see. However, having said that, while spectacular to look at or drive around the lagoon, it is not the easiest place where to just hop into the water. Unless you go to, for example, to Las Brisas. It is a restaurant close to Sapodilla and right on the shore of Chalk Sound.

Beaches of Turks and Caicos include Sapodilla Beach

Once in the area, I stopped by Sapodilla Beach. In my opinion Sapodilla beach is among the stars of the beaches of the Turks and Caicos. The very white sea shell origin sand and clear water here gets it on the list of the nicest beaches in the world.

Taylor Bay is among the amazing beaches in Providenciales

Taylor Bay is pretty close to Chalk Sound Natural Park and Sapodilla Beach. Near to the Sapodilla entrance there is another one. Just a small pass between vegetation. You need to park your car on the main road and then walk down some 100 metres to get to Taylor Bay.

When you get to the end to the little alley you will be blown away. But judge for yourself.

I know, this looks pretty unreal. But, believe me, this is how it really is. Amazing, isn’t it! However, if you decide to go to Taylor Bay, bring your water, food, chairs and whatever else you think you will need to spend a great day at the beach. In other words, there is nothing apart from a great beach and pristine water.

Providenciales Beaches include Leeward Beach

Still in a car, I proceeded to the other end of Provo Island (it is only 27 km long and between 2.5 and 12 km wide) to the deserted Leeward Beach.

Grace Bay Beach

Continuation of Leeward Beach is Grace Bay Beach, the hallmark of the beaches in the Turks and Caicos Islands. It was awarded the 2016 TripAdvisor Traveler’s Choice Award. Pretty much all of the main resorts are found on this stretch of beach. Plenty of beach restaurants around. It is great to spend chilling time but it would be just time spent on the beach.

Best beaches in Providenciales

If you are into extended walking, it is possible to walk the uninterrupted 11 km stretch along the beach from Leeward Beach, passing Grace Bay Beach and on to Turtle Cove.

Pelican Beach

On the way, you will pass Stubbs’s Point on Pelican Beach with a couple of restaurants.

Long Bay Beach

Long Bay is on the opposite side of Provo and is a 4 km stretch of spectacular pristine beach. There are different aspects of Long Bay Beach. If it is windy, it is a kiteboarder’s paradise. With no wind, it is just out of this world. Hundreds of meters of shallow water. White sand inviting to take extensive walks and with a bit of luck find one of those amazing Conch shells.
